Advertising Academy

Background of the

The Association some few years back decided to set up an institution that will assist practitioners and prospective practitioners in acquiring the relevant knowledge and skills for the practice of advertising.

It is also believed that such an institution will attract young talent to the industry as well as serve as an employment pool for member-agencies in particular and the industry in general.

As an industry, we recognize that aspiring practitioners are pursuing a vocation and the University is probably not the best place for vocational learning.

The Academy will be driven by the desire to deliver professional education better than the traditional university model. It will be an elite school for mentoring the very best creative talent.

The Academy is intended to provide the institution and discipline for continuous learning and acquisition of knowledge through formal training and research in advertising and marketing communications. This will accelerate capacity building for practitioners of marketing communications.

The Academy is designed to cater for beginners, middle career professionals and refreshers, the curriculum will bridge the theory – practice dichotomy, harmonize both by offering the platform to advance the cause and direction of the discipline of marketing communications practice in general and advertising in particular.

Aims & Objectives

To provide opportunities for students to acquire and develop the knowledge, skills and understanding that will prepare them for their chosen path in the advertising industry.

To provide for practitioners in employment an opportunity to hone their creative skills in such a way that enables them to explore their potentials in an inspirational manner.
