The REV Agenda

July 18, 2024

The current Executive Board swept into office unopposed. It ran on a tripod agenda called REV—an acronym that stands for Relevance, Expansion, and Value.

Broadly, REV is designed to reposition AAAN as the most credible authority in the marketing communications space, always at the forefront of addressing pressing industry challenges such as ethical standards, professionalism, digitalization, increasing regulatory requirements, and the demand for more culturally relevant and localized content. REV will ensure AAAN’s growth and sustainability in a rapidly changing and highly competitive global market by developing top-rate training and development programmes, advocating global creative standards, building mutually beneficial partnerships with reputable local and international players, and upholding high ethical and professional standards.

In specific terms, Relevance seeks to build recognition and respect for AAAN within Nigeria, across the continent, and around the world. It aims to endear the industry to all stakeholders—especially clients—by adding value to their brands and to regulatory authorities.

Expansion will broaden the membership base of AAAN to include small, micro, and niche advertising firms doing good work, thereby making the Association more inclusive and representative of the industry’s diversity. To attract quality members, standards will be raised, and AAAN will significantly enhance its appeal and pull factor.

Value focuses on the benefits for those practising advertising and those patronizing them. It aims to enhance the worth of the advertising business and elevate its service quality—factors that are pivotal to the long-term success and competitiveness of the industry.
